STORAGE SHED FAQS
Do you deliver throughout WA?
Yes. We supply storage shed kits throughout Perth and regional Western Australia from our Bellevue factory.
What size storage shed do I need?
It depends on what you are storing and whether you need vehicle access. A 3m x 3m suits garden tools, while bulk or business storage often needs 6m x 9m or larger. Our team can help you choose the right size.
Are your shed kits engineer certified?
Engineered for your site conditions. Site-specific engineering supplied where required. Documentation is project-specific. The relevant authority determines its requirements and whether it accepts the material.
Can I add a mezzanine floor to my shed?
Yes, a mezzanine can add valuable storage or work space by using the height inside a taller shed. The mezzanine and the supporting frame need to be engineered for the extra loads, and adequate ceiling height is essential for it to be usable. Plan it into the original design so the structure and access stairs are accounted for.
Can I add to or extend my shed later?
Many sheds can be extended or have additions such as an awning or extra bay later, though it is simpler and cheaper to plan for this from the start. Any extension needs to be engineered so the loads and connections work with the existing structure. Talk to us about your future plans so the original design can allow for them.
Can I store a caravan or boat in one of your sheds?
Yes, a shed can be sized specifically to fit a caravan, boat, trailer or motorhome with clearance to spare. The key measurements are the height of the door opening and the internal length and width, including room to manoeuvre. Tell us the dimensions of what you are storing and we can recommend a suitable configuration.
Can one shed serve more than one purpose?
Yes, many WA owners build a single shed that combines a garage bay, a workshop area and general storage under one roof. This is often more economical than building separate structures and makes good use of the slab and footings. Planning the internal zones and door positions early helps the layout work for every use.
Do I get engineering documentation with my shed?
Documentation supplied with a shed kit is project-specific. Site-specific engineering supplied where required. Confirm what is included for your product and project, and confirm the relevant authority's current document and acceptance requirements.
Do I need a permit to build a shed in WA?
Whether a shed needs a building permit or another approval depends on the project, property and current requirements applied by the relevant authority. Confirm the applicable pathway with the permit authority or a registered building surveyor before building.
Do you offer an installation workshop?
Yes, we offer a free installation workshop that walks owner builders through the key stages of assembling a shed. It is a great way to build confidence and learn practical tips before you start. Combined with our technical support, it helps DIY customers tackle their build successfully.
How tall should my shed be?
Shed height is driven by what you need to fit and how you will use the space, with vehicle clearance, hoists, mezzanines or machinery all influencing the wall height. Taller sheds give more flexibility but can affect both cost and council height limits. Measure the tallest item plus working clearance, including any roller door operating height.
What Colorbond colours can I choose for my shed?
Colorbond is available in a broad palette so you can match your home, blend into a rural setting or make a feature of the shed. You can usually select separate colours for the roof, walls, gutters and trim. The 3D shed designer lets you preview different colour combinations before ordering.
What doors can I have on my shed?
Sheds can be fitted with roller doors, panel-lift doors, sliding doors, personal access doors and wide openings for machinery, depending on the design. The door type and size are chosen to suit the vehicles or equipment going in and out. Including the right doors in the original design keeps the structure properly engineered around the openings.
What is a storage shed best for?
A storage shed is a practical, cost-effective structure for keeping tools, garden equipment, furniture, stock or household overflow dry and secure. They come in a wide range of sizes from compact backyard units to large lock-up storage. The right size depends on what you are storing now and what you expect to add later.
What is included in a shed kit?
A shed kit typically includes the structural steel frame, roof and wall cladding, gutters and flashings, brackets, bolts and fixings, plus a build guide and site-specific engineering documentation. The exact contents depend on the shed type, size and any options such as roller doors, windows or insulation. Knowing what is in the kit helps you compare suppliers fairly rather than on headline price alone.
What is not included in a shed kit price?
A shed kit price usually covers the engineered structure, cladding and fixings, but costs such as the concrete slab, council fees, delivery and any trades you hire are typically separate. Site preparation and earthworks can also add to your overall budget. Factoring these in gives you a realistic total project cost.
What size shed do I need?
The right shed size depends on what you are storing or doing inside, plus room to move around comfortably. List the vehicles, equipment or activities the shed must accommodate, then add allowance for future needs and walkways. The 3D shed designer lets you test different footprints and see how the space works before you decide.
